When choosing a massage stance, proper body alignment is essential for several reasons. It helps maintain balance and stability, reducing the risk of injury for both the therapist and the client. When a therapist stands with correct alignment, they can use their body weight effectively, leading to a more efficient application of pressure during the massage. Proper alignment also aids in the therapist’s endurance, allowing them to perform the massage comfortably for an extended period without straining any muscles.

Seated positions, while comfortable in some contexts, may not always provide the same benefits in terms of body mechanics and leverage. While wearing flat shoes can contribute to comfort, it is not as fundamental to the mechanics of massage as proper alignment is. Distraction-free environments are important for the overall experience but do not directly impact the physical stance of the therapist. Therefore, proper body alignment is the critical element that ensures effectiveness and safety during massage therapy.
